The fall of the House Of Usher

1. "a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit. I say insufferable; for the feeling was unrelieved by any of that half-pleasurable, because poetic, sentiment, with which the mind usually receives even the sternest natural images of the desolate or terrible."


2. In the 6th line of "The fall of the house of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe, he says when Edgar first saw the building "a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit." He gets a feeling of sadness that affects his spirit. Poe also says the naturalness of the sight of the building gives him a vivid picture.


3. In the passage " The fall of the house of Usher" Edgar Allan Poe says " There was an iceness, a sickening of the heart/an unredeemed dreariness of thought which no goading of the imagination could torture into aught of the sublime." The second line is just saying you can't make the thought good, it's just a descriptive way of saying it. The thought just keeps annoying him, its overwhelming.


4. In " The fall of the house of usher" Poe just tells us in the beginning that he was on his horse on a dark afternoon in the fall. He sees a building that belongs to the Ushers.


5. In the passage it explains that Poe is on his horse on a afternoon, and he sees the building that belongs to the family called the ushers. He starts to describe in many different words, from the walls to the windows bring a strong feeling of sadness to him. Poe also describes a bit of the surroundings. He also starts to question why did he get this feeling. He starts to get curious.


6. Poe is walking towards the building of the house of the Ushers, in a afternoon in fall. He gets such a strong feeling that he is feeling depressed and starts questioning why.

Assignment

A man with pale skin sits at a little round table, under an umbrella that says "BRYANT PARK". He sits with a hunched back with his legs on top of another chair while reading a orange book. While he is reading this medium sized book he is also listening to music on his iPhone. The man is wearing a light pink dress shirt, gray dress pants and hot pink socks with a blue pattern on them. But his hair is black and is wearing mirrored sunglasses. After several moments of looking at the same page, he closes the orange book and places it on the table. He then lifts his left arm, and begins to rub his neck with his left hand. He sits up straight and begins to put on his black dress shoes. He then looks at his silver watch which is also on his left hand, and stands up. The man puts his orange book in a black plastic bag and begins to walk away.

A woman with olive skin approaches the green round table, and sits on the small chair. She is wearing a floral scarf on her head, and a blue jean jacket with a long black skirt that reaches her ankles, with white flats. She sits with her back straight and begins to take out a large white bowl with chopsticks out of a brown plastic bag. As she eats with the chopsticks using her right hand she looks to the left, to the right and then straight ahead. But on her left hand she is holding a large napkin on her lap. After several minutes a group of pigeons start to surround her. She begins to throw tiny bits of food on the floor, so the pigeons may eat. The woman does this for about five times with her chopsticks and the pigeons disappear. She gets up and places the white bowl, chopsticks and napkin inside the brown bag. She begins to walk to the garbage can at a steady pace. Once she reaches to the garbage can she throws away the brown bag, and pulls out flyers from her jean jacket pocket. She glances at them but throws them away and she is gone.

A young man with black ear length hair is sitting at a little round table. His legs are folded and is wearing beige colored shoes, dark blue jeans and a blue collared shirt. He stares straight ahead with his black rectangular sunglasses. He slowly begins to lift his right arm and presses the diet coke can to his lips and drinks. Once he places his diet coke on the table, he begins to rub his chin with his forefinger and middle finger. After a few seconds of rubbing his chin he decides to finish his food, to his left and wipes the white napkin on his mouth. The man then looks sideways, places his fork and rectangular foam plate into a white plastic bag. He starts to stand up and picks up his gray bookbag that was behind him, and walks quickly to the Garbage can. He throws away the plastic bag and walks away.

A pigeon with white feathers and brown spots begins to wobble, and pecks on the cracks of the concrete. But then with its red feet begins to wobble to a group of people. These group of people included three females and two males. They weren't eating, they were just talking to another. The pigeon begins to wobble around one of the females and she gets startled. She says she wants to leave to one of the males and they all stand up and walk away. After they walk away the pigeon was no longer there.
